We are so excited to feature the cutest book of nursery rhymes this month. Each week we will feature a different nursery rhyme from the book. This week it's all about those 5 little piggies! I love reading Lydia nursery rhymes because they are so interactive. She thinks it is hilarious when we use her fingers or toes as the piggies of the story! And of course we have the cutest activities to teach any little one more about This Little Piggy!
What You'll Need:
- Chocolate Cupcakes
- Pink Frosting
- Edible Eyes
- Construction Paper
- Popcicle Stick
Activity #1: Pig Cupcakes
In our house, we each suffer from a severe sweet tooth. So these adorable cupcakes were a huge winner and almost to cute to eat (ok let's be real, we ate them with no problems.) You can see you don't have to be a culinary genius to make them as well. I just frosted them and used a cut in half marshmallow, mini chocolate chips and edible eyes to make them look like 5 little piggies.
Activity #2: Finger Puppets
These little finger puppets were an awesome way to make This Little Piggy come to life. You can wear them as you say the nursery rhyme, or you can have your little one put them on. I found the free printable here.
Activity #3: Pig Snout
How cute is Lydia with this pig snout?! It was really easy to make (just construction paper and yarn) and she ran around making pig noises. It was pretty adorable.
Activity #4: Hand Puppet
We are always looking for activities that are portable, so this little hand puppet is perfect. It can go in the car or to the playground and provide a quick activity. I even printed out the words and glued them on so we never forget.
