Hopefully everyone has heard of the classic Goodnight Moon. Its definitely a favorite at our house, especially for bed time. Published over 60 years ago, Margaret Wise Brown lets you say goodnight to everything in the great green room. Its the perfect book for the end of the day.
What You'll Need:
- Yellow, Blue and Red Paper
- Play-Doh, cups and long sticks (skewers)
Activity #1- Door Mobile
This was a fun and easy craft that we could make together. All we did was take construction paper and cut out a moon and stars and used yarn to link them all together to hang on the door knob. It would also be great to have your little one put on the door of their room whenever they are going to sleep so that everyone knows someone is sleeping in the room. Then they could take it off when they wake up!
Activity #2- Matching Game
I found this matching game online and decided to print it off and start to teach Lydia how to match. Some were definitely easier for her than others, and in the end they are always fun flashcards to color if they are to little to match. Click HERE to get your free download.
Activity #3- Coloring Page
You know I am always on the look out for good coloring pages. I found this one and loved that it's almost exactly the same illustration from the book. Click HERE to pint your own.
Activity #4- Pairs of Mittens
Just like in the book, you can make your own clothes line to hang mittens on. For more detailed instructions, click here. We just used whatever we had in our house to put this together. I just searched mittens clipart online and printed the mittens to cut out. Then we used Play-Doh in cups to hold up our skewers. The one suggestion I do have is to use smaller clothes pins. Ours were a little heavy to have them stay upright.
