I know I'm like a broken record but I seriously LOVE Nancy Tillman and I thought that this would be the perfect book for a little Valentine's post. This is one of my favorite books to read Lydi, and I want her to know that just like the book says "You are my angel, my darling, my star.... and my love will find you, wherever you are." All the activities this week are about showing others how much we love them!
What You'll Need:
- Red, Pink, White Construction Paper
- Pancake Mix
- Red food coloring
Activity #1: Heart Garland
I don't know about you guys, but I am terrible at decorating for holidays. I always have the best intentions, but I just never really get around to it. This was a super simple decoration that I came up with. All you need is whatever color construction paper you would like to use. Then I just cut them into even strips and folded them into squares. I used the first one for reference on size, then just use scissors to cut out a heart shape. Make sure to leave room on each side to make it a garland and use tape to string them together . And just like that you have the cutest garland!
Activity #2- Heart Attack
This one is super easy! We did this for the Daddy of our house. I just cut out a bunch of hearts in different colors, and then I would write things we love about Daddy, and Lydi colored them. Then Lydi helped me stick them to the front door (as you can see they are mostly at the bottom, she isn't very tall, haha). Then they were the first thing that Daddy saw when he came home for lunch!
Activity #3- Valentine's Pancakes
We are big fans of pancakes in our house, so I knew Lydi would love this little twist. I just made pancake mix and added red food coloring. Then instead of regular ol' round pancakes I put it into a squeeze bottle and made hearts! It was a hit for breakfast!
Activity #4- Cards
I saw this idea on Pinterest, but put my own little twist on it. I just cute out a heart and taped it to the front of a blank white card. Then Lydi colored to her hearts delight. I decided to trace the heart and then take it off and tape it to the inside of the card. It turned out pretty darn cute.
