We have had a ton of fun putting together the activities for Giraffes Cant Dance! This book is a great read with an amazing message. Who doesn't love warthogs Walzing, Rhinos rock 'n' rolling, lions doing the tango and chimps doing the cha-cha. We love dancing (Gus isn't embarrassed by my moves yet) and his favorite stuffed animal is his giraffe so he loved these activities!
What you will need:

Activity #1...Giraffe Puppet
We had so much fun with this paper bag puppet! Gus couldn't quit laughing at that dancing giraffe. I love this stage because he thinks I am hilarious! Depending on how old your little one is, you can either let them stick their little hand in there and dance their heart away or like in our case, mom or dad will have to be the puppet master! I started with a paper bag which I picked up from the cashier at my local grocery store. Next we just took our yellow and brown paper and cut out the rest. I then glued it all together and slapped on a couple of eyes. My last step was to grab some brown pipe cleaners and curled the ends to create some cute little ears. There you have it, a darling giraffe puppet that was super easy to make!
Activity #2...Dancing Raisins
Did you know that if you put raisins in sprite they dance around? Gus loved watching those little raisins jump up and down. He kept wanting to grab them out. This is an easy experiment that is sure to stimulate any little ones mind.
Activity #3...Edible Giraffes
These giraffe treats are about as easy as they come. It's always nice to have new snack ideas.
Activity #4...Paper Plate Giraffe
We love paper plate projects! Start by painting the paper plate yellow. Next grab a pom pom and a clothespin. This is where I got Gus involved. We dipped the pom pom in the brown paint and I helped him put those cute spots on his giraffe. With brown paper cut out the nose, ears and ossicones (horns). Last glue a couple pom poms and wiggly eyes on. If you want this to be more then just a cute art project you could staple an elastic string to each side and make it into a giraffe mask.
Activity #5...Giraffe Coloring Page
This coloring page will be a great way to get your little ones creative juices rolling. As they are coloring this is the perfect opportunity to reread the book. Have fun and make sure their finished masterpiece gets hung up for all to enjoy!
